"Landed: A Super 8 Journey" 2022 was created using Super 8 Kodak Color film during my stay in the Bahamas in October 2022. This silent film intertwines three unique perspectives, captured through Super 8 cameras, to unveil the true essence of the Caribbean. An island comes to life on the screen, and viewers are treated to an immersive experience that blends the perspectives of the local people, the media, and the person behind the camera.

The film captures the vibrant culture, rich traditions, and resilience. Through lively street markets and heartfelt conversations with the islanders, their passion for life and love for their homelands shine through. The viewer’s eyes are invited to dance to the rhythm of Caribbean life and witness the deep-rooted connections that tie the people to their land.

Meanwhile, the media's perspective offers a contrasting angle, presenting a world of glamour and tourism through the media imagery collaged within the film. It sheds light on the challenges of preserving authentic Caribbean culture in the face of commercialization. The film explores the complexities of how the media portrays the region and its impact on the lives of the locals. We witness the struggles and joys of capturing the raw beauty of the Caribbean and the difficulties of finding the right balance between observing and participating in the cultural tapestry.

As the three perspectives intertwine, "Landed: A Super 8 Journey" profoundly explores identity, community, and perception. The film transcends mere visual storytelling, imparting a powerful message about the interplay of cultural heritage, tourism, and the importance of authentic representation.

Through Super 8's nostalgic grain and vibrant colors, "Landed: A Super 8 Journey" takes the audience on a heartfelt and thought-provoking journey through paradise, revealing the soul of the Caribbean from three unique angles, leaving a lasting impression on the hearts and minds of viewers.
